A Letter to Senator Kerry
by Dave Crean
September 5, 2004

Senator Kerry:

Glad to see that last night you directly addressed some facts:

1. "America needs to move in a new direction"
2. "they can't talk about the real issues"
3. Republican distortion
4. "my commitment to defend this country questioned by those who refused to serve when they could have"
5. "those who have misled the nation into Iraq"
6. "five deferments makes someone more qualified to defend this nation"
7. "Doing nothing while this nation loses millions of jobs"
8. "Letting 45 million Americans go without health care"
9. "Letting the Saudi royal family control our energy costs 10.Handing out billions of government contracts to Halliburton"
11. "cut taxes for the middle class"
12. "lower health care costs"

That was great but more has to be clearly stated.

How about some unambiguous talk on:

1. Does the present No Child Left Behind Act really help to improve local schools or is it already starting to create more "separate and unequal" schools, along with reducing the amount of Federal Ed. Assistance to the states? That by design, in an additional way, will shift more of the tax burden to the local middle class.

2. Is reversing past efforts of conservation of our public lands/resources, and exposing our forests, unique and sensitive areas, and diminishing wildlife, to much less restricted and unfettered economic exploitation really what this nation needs?

3. Is closing Veteran's hospitals and restricting that administration's budget really how to support the military and fight terrorism?

4. Is providing inadequate support and no job security for returning servicemen really the way to honor these heroes?

5. Is Iraq now more of a breeding ground for a terrorist threat to this country than it was before our invasion?

6. Is initially fighting the establishment of the homeland security department, the 9/11 commission, environmental treaties, and expansion of the military, and now claiming credit for them, anything but hypocritical "flip-flopping"?

7. Is checking my shoes at airports more important than checking shipping containers at our ports?

8. Does the "Patriot" Act do more to insure our freedom and safety than it does to reduce our liberties and provide a false sense of security?

9. Does the US going it alone, alienating the entire rest of world including the British and Australian public, really make this a better country?

10. Was linking Saddam to al-Qaida an outright lie?

11. Ask now if we going to see "WMDıs" pulled out of spider holes come October.

12. Is the same going to happen with Osama bin Laden?

13. Is decimating environmental protections in favor of economic gain best for this country?

14. And so on and on...

My belief is that the best approach to take for the rest of this contest is to drop mentioning Bush as much as possible; don't be drawn into responses to him; marginalize him. Run against the "Axis of Evil" (Cheney-Rumsfeld-Ashcroft) in this administration with the strings being pulled by Karl Rowe.

Actively address these issues in relation to how Karl Rowe spins them, and point out that he is the puppeteer behind this. Drive home the point that he is using the same MO as campaigns against Dukakis, McCain and Max Cleveland; and that, in the past, this worked. Does the American voter really want this to be a permanent American political value?

Shine light on the fact that the Republican puppets from Florida to Washington state, no matter what level they are at, mouth by verbatim the same disinformation and disingenuous Karl Rowe non-facts. Is this educating the electorate or brain washing them?

Take the fight to them!
