The
Beatles "Yesterday & Today" album was released
in the US by Capitol Records on June 15th 1966.
The original cover featured a highly controversial
picture of the group dressed in white butcher
smocks showing raw cuts of meat and parts of
toy dolls strewn about their bodies.
The
album was issued to radio stations and stores
in advance of release and caused such an uproar
that it was recalled. Today, some copies of
this album can sell for in excess of $20,000.
If
today's "rock stars" are politicians, the new,
not-so-Fab Four might hail from the Nation's
Capital instead of Liverpool. Meet George Bush,
Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and Condoleezza
Rice, aka "The Bushles." Many feel that they
are butchers in their own right, and their releases
are always Number One - with a bullet.
